2021_01_01 Insight Post- Kim Feld
Happy New Year, everyone! Wow, it felt good to turn that calendar page! I’m trying to not miss the lessons of 2020 in my haste to move away from it. I hope you will join me in setting aside some time for reflecting this weekend
Our 2021 Bible reading plan is going to take a different approach from last year. We are going to cover less territory, but hopefully really dwell in what we read. I can think of no better way to spend 2021 than working on our relationship with Jesus and I’m hoping our new plan will be a useful tool to help us accomplish that.
We have decided to focus on what it means to be a disciple this year. What does it look like to be a student following Rabbi Jesus? The first step is going to be to learn as much as we can about His time on earth – how He lived, what He said, who He interacted with, and more. We also hope to learn some of the culture of the time so that we can put His words and actions into context.
Our reading this year will focus on the four biographies of Jesus: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. We will spend a full week reading through one or two chapters. You can split this up and read a few verses daily, or you can read it through every day, but we will take a chunk of scripture to focus on each week. We will have at least three insights posted weekly (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) with the possibility of some “guest” posts in between.
Monday online Prayer Nights have become such a special time to gather together. This year, we will focus our Prayer Nights on following our Bible reading plan, giving us an opportunity to discuss what we are reading and learning. I can’t wait to get started! So, follow our plan at www.nhcbrp.com and be sure to join us on Monday evenings on Facebook Live or through live.newhope.org. You can click below to download a copy of the 2021 Bible Reading Plan. Be sure to text the word Bible to 703.971.4673 so that you receive text notifications when we post.
I’m praying that we learn to follow Jesus with our whole hearts this year.
