This week's reading- Matthew 7 & 8
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and he one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Dependency on God is sometimes contrary to our human nature. As we grow in our faith we become healthier versions of ourselves, but as we grow there is a temptation to think that we are doing quite well. It can feel like we don't need God for every decision or life event that comes our way. So in creeps independence. We may be able to live this way for a while, but soon enough we will realize we are far from God. The good news is we are only a prayer away from being back in relationship with our loving heavenly Father. He is slow to anger, abounding in love, merciful and compassionate.
Jesus promises us that when we ask we will receive, when we seek we will find and when we knock, the door will be opened to us. There is a consistent and persistent tone about this promise. There is a dependency on God for our every need. Because God loves us we can trust him. Dependency on God is not weakness, it is the gift of a relationship with our savior.
Forgive me God for where I have lived independent from you. I invite you into every corner of my life and hand it over to you. Today I ask for.........and will continue to seek you. Thank you for your goodness to me.
In Jesus name.
