This week's reading- Luke 2
When Jesus the son of God was born to Mary and Joseph he became fully human. He was both God and man and each of these natures are full and complete in him. Jesus is Holy yet God the Father gave his only son to pay the price that was required for our sin. As a man, Jesus experienced life as we do. He was a baby, he grew up in a family, he was a brother. He experienced joy, pain, laughter and rejection. He knew hunger and thirst. Philippians 2:6-8 tells us that “did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death-even death on a cross.” All of this was done for us. God became incarnate because we are loved that much! Take some moments to prayerfully reflect on who Jesus is. Use the list below to guide your time.
Glorious name above all names My high priest Immanuel, God with me Inhabitor of my praises My defender and defense My cornerstone and firm foundation One who calms my storms The accomplisher of what concerns me My good shepherd that goes before me My friend My beloved Living water that quenches my thirst My lamp for my path Sun of righteousness with healing for me My easy yoke My returning King of Kings
Jesus, how great you are to me!
All I need is you, Lord.
In your name, Amen
