This week's reading- John 1-2

In the first chapter of John’s biography of Jesus, we read a summary of the impact Jesus had, “Even in his own land and among his own people, the Jews, he was not accepted. Only a few would welcome and receive him. But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them. 13 All those who believe this are reborn! — not a physical rebirth resulting from human passion or plan—but from the will of God.” John 1:11–13 (The Living Bible)

These few verses show us the reality of what Jesus offers. Simply believing and receiving Him, changes everything. To believe in God goes beyond merely acknowledging His existence, but to actually trust, and act in accordance to the belief. Receiving Him means that He becomes the leader of our life, and the one we choose to trust and follow. Those of the Jews that did not accept Him were unwilling to relinquish control of their lives, and the same is true today. There are many who believe Jesus exists, and even have high regard for Him, but are unwilling to surrender control of their lives and humbly follow Him. By choosing to trust themselves over Jesus, many miss the greatest gift in all of history! “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (The Living Bible)

A simple message that is available to all. Let’s never grow dull in our awe of it, or tired of sharing it!
