This week's reading- John 13-14
In John chapter 14 Jesus comforts his disciples after telling them he will be leaving. The disciples are full of questions as they process the difficult truth of what Jesus is saying. Jesus' answers are rich with promise. Jesus leaving is a necessary next step of the plan God has in place to bring people back to his heart. Jesus knows what he will have to endure and how the disciples will respond, but these words of comfort inform them that they will have everything they need. Jesus gives the disciples an eternal perspective to see the world, in order to aline their will with Gods.
What Jesus leaves behind for the disciples, he leaves behind for us too. Take some moments for prayer and meditate on the wealth of resources Jesus has for every one of us.
Jesus, you are the way, the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through you.
I come to you today with open hands.
I let go of my will and fully accept yours.
Jesus, you have given me your peace.
I choose to take it and let it be the lens I see my day through.
Even though things may not look peaceful
With you there is a place for me to not be troubled or afraid.
Jesus, you have not left me as an orphan.
Your Holy Spirit is my helper and my teacher
You have made a home in me because I love and obey you.
Holy Spirit have your way in me today.
Jesus, you have prepared a place for me.
The Father's house has many rooms and there is one that is mine.
I take comfort today in knowing that I will always be with you.
You are everything I need.
In Jesus name
