There are so many amazing things about the story of how mankind was created. I loved Rusty’s post on Monday highlighting that there were even two different methods that God used in forming men and women. Our God has incredible attention to detail!
I’ve always been fascinated with how the human body functions. From the intricacy of each microscopic cell to the way that our organs work together in harmony – it’s truly beautiful. There is nothing in all of creation that is random or not ordered.
As much as I’m caught up with the physical act of God’s creation, the very last line of this passage is what captivates me: “Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.” Completely vulnerable and open before God with not a hint of remorse, guilt, confusion, or disgrace. They felt no shame. When was the last time you remember feeling no shame?
I’m sure that Eden was breathtaking in its beauty, but there was something even more compelling than that; there was no sin. God had a relationship with Adam and Eve that was completely unhindered. Adam and Eve didn’t have any “baggage” that came between them and God. There was no looking at God through the lens of pain or mistrust. Eden was perfect.
God’s heart is still for His creation today. He longs for us to turn from the things that keep us separated from Him, and to be in relationship with Him, unashamed.
