04.06.15 Insight Post

I’m writing this post on Easter morning with a full heart of all that God did to rescue us. I will never get over the gift of Jesus and what a difference He has made in my life. God only knows where I would be without Him.

I’m constantly amazed that God would choose to work through us, giving us a role to play in redemption’s story. I wonder if Moses felt the same way. The Bible refers to Moses as a man that was full of humility. The people that I know that I would describe as humble know where they’ve come from. I would definitely put Moses in that category.

The two stories that we are reading this week are about how God chose to work through Moses. The power was God’s for sure, but He chose to work through His servant. He first used Moses’ staff to bring water out of a rock to sustain the people, and then worked through Moses’ uplifted hands to bring victory to the Israelites. In these passages God shows that He can be counted on.

I long for the kind of relationship with God that Moses had. I want to be used by God to do great things but also the day to day small things that require me to trust and deny myself. I want to lead the way that Moses led, bringing all his cares and concerns to God and seeking His guidance above all. I’m inspired by his example.

The word that keeps popping into my mind as I think about these stories is trust. Do I really trust God? I mean really trust Him with my needs, my desires, my safety, my very life? Trust is a theme that God will continue to work on with the Israelites, but it’s also a theme that He continues to work on with me too.

You call me out upon the waters The great unknown where feet may fail And there I find You in the mystery In oceans deep My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name And keep my eyes above the waves When oceans rise My soul will rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters Your sovereign hand Will be my guide Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me You've never failed and You won't start now

So I will call upon Your name And keep my eyes above the waves When oceans rise My soul will rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders Let me walk upon the waters Wherever You would call me Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander And my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Savior
