Option Two- Week of February 15th

The message this week began with the verse:

Many proclaim themselves loyal, but who can find one worthy of trust?

Proverbs 20:6 (NRSV)

Think about this for a moment. How would you rate yourself as a friend? As you consider answering this, think about some relationships where there has been friction and disagreement. How are/did you handle the problems? Do you have friendships that have survived difficult circumstances? Or do they usually fall apart?

Do you have people in your life that are loyal friends? If so, what has proven to you that they are loyal? If not, what has caused you to not trust them anymore?

Now…

Have you surrendered yourself to follow Christ? He is the most loyal and faithful friend you can ever have! Simply admit your need for His grace, forgiveness and help. Ask Him based on what He did when Christ died to take the penalty for your sin away. Accept Him as the new leader of your life. (Anyone on staff at New Hope would love to talk with you about this!)

Is there anyone that you need to forgive for having abandoned, gossiped, pre-judged or otherwise been disloyal to you?

If so go to God now and give it to him…

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT)

Is there anyone you need to approach and ask forgiveness of for being disloyal?

23 Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. 24 First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV)

[Important: if there is any chance that approaching someone may create harm or hurt them, please ask a wise friend for advice]
