4-6-18 Insight Post

Do you ever feel like nothing is going right, like you just can’t get ahead, like the world is against you? Your car breaks down just when you’ve saved up enough money to go on a weekend vacation. A relationship ends just when you think it’s really starting to get deep. You can never seem to get ahead in your job. When evil, injustice, selfishness, and oppression seem to be constantly winning in this world, this scripture helps me to remember that God is who He says He is and He will ultimately prevail. Our job is to trust and follow and Him. In Psalm 37 is says these things:

3 Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.

4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

7 Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.

18 Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent, and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever.

23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. 24 Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

We are made innocent through the sacrifice that Jesus made when He died on the cross for us, taking the punishment for our sins. So now our responsibility is to trust in him, do good, and wait patiently. Those who seek to fulfill only their own selfish desires, those who do evil, those who oppress the weak … their time is coming and they will be judged. Remember that God is on your side. He is for you, ready to rescue you. So, put your trust in Him today.

The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him. Psalms 37:39-40
