This week we wrap up our time in the book of Psalms. I have loved reading and praying through them and I hope you have too. I love the full range of emotions that are on full display in these individual “songs” – praise, fear, anger, joy, love, doubt – all the relatable emotions to me in my own faith journey.
These last few Psalms all begin and end with “Praise the Lord!” which seems so fitting and provide such a great reminder for me that in all things, Jesus is worthy of my praise.
In The Life Application Study Bible notes, five things that praise has the potential to do in our lives is listed; I want to share these with you to chew on as we wrap up this great book this week:
Praise takes our mind off our problems and shortcomings and helps us focus on God.
Praise leads us from individual meditation to corporate worship.
Praise causes us to consider and appreciate God’s character.
Praise lifts our perspective from the earthly to the heavenly.
Praise prepares our hearts to receive God’s love and the power of his Holy Spirit.
How can you increase the time you spend praising Jesus this week? He is worthy of it all.
