For several years, New Hope has provided a Bible Reading Plan, however this year, for the first time, we will read through the New Testament in chronological order. While reading the events in the order they take place, we will gain a full picture of what happened with Jesus’ arrival and the launch of the church that followed.

As we read, I want to encourage all of us to be on the lookout for a few specific things:

• How did God prepare people for Jesus’ coming?

• What types of people are attracted to Jesus and the church?

• Why were the “religious” people against others finding faith?

• What kinds of people find favor with God?

• What kinds of people are antagonistic to God’s work?

• Why were the “religious” people against others finding faith?

• What were the political and social realities of the times?

• What problems did all people face?

• What unique problems did Followers face?

• How did God provide for and protect His people?

As we read, let’s remember to ask God, the same God that sent His son to rescue us, to speak to us and for us to be open to listen and act. I will close this post with a passage from our reading this week:

“He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:10-12 (NLT)
