Take some time to slowly read the passage below three or four times through. As you read, underline key words or phrases that stand out to you.
15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.
Colossians 1:15-18 (NLT)
What about Jesus stands out to you in a new way? By describing Christ as “the visible image of the invisible God,” it means Jesus is fully God. How should that impact my view of Jesus’ authority over my life as a follower?
The church is Jesus’ body, which means we who have accepted Him as our Savior and Leader are to be accomplishing together all that He wants done here on earth. What are the things that Jesus wants us to be doing as priorities?
What gets in the way of me being fully devoted to His church?
What could I do to be more closely connected and involved in Jesus’ church? (For example: checking out a Small Group or Ministry Team, supporting the church generously with my finances and prayer)
What is the first step I will take this week?
