Option Two- Week of January 5th

Getting to know John Mark’s story can bring a lot of hope. Starting off well in our faith is good, but it doesn’t guarantee we will continue that way. We need to continue to pursue God.

Failure along the way doesn’t have to ruin us. If we will pursue God, He will forgive, restore and set us on the path again even stronger than we were before.

This week, take some time to reflect on the following passages. They show us how to prevent problems, as well as how to find God’s forgiveness and restoration when we fall. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. 7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

Proverbs 3:5-7 (NLT)

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. 24 Point out anything in me that offends you and lead me…”

Psalm 139:23,24 (NLT)

12 If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. 13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

1 Corinthians 10:12-13 (NLT)

“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”

Isaiah 1:18 (NLT)

The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.”

Isaiah 57:15 (NLT)

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
